22 Though you grind a fool in a mortar,
grinding them like grain with a pestle,
you will not remove their folly from them.
Painful experiences often challenge our assumptions, correct our misunderstandings and show us truths we otherwise could not see. To the extent that we embrace the lessons of suffering, we redeem it with purpose. Sometimes the best thing that could happen in life feels like the worst thing in the moment, it is only in hindsight that the purpose is made clear. The tragedy of folly is that it wastes the lessons of suffering, which are the most valuable lessons of all, by insisting on its meaninglessness.
