15 Good judgment wins favor,
but the way of the unfaithful leads to their destruction.
16 All who are prudent act with knowledge,
but fools expose their folly.
Every path has a destination. This is plainly true in the physical world, but often overlooked in the other realms of life. The path of good judgment leads to favor as surely as the road heading eastward leads to the coast. It is rewarding, of course, to reach such a destination – but without the journey there would be no reward.
The reverse is also true. The fool doesn’t consider where his decisions are taking him, but he gets there nonetheless. He laughs at faith and scoffs at discipline, but what alternatives does he stumble into? When he reaches destruction it is often too late, he never saw it coming.
“All who are prudent act with knowledge, but fools expose their folly.” Prudence results in action. The prudent person considers what’s ahead of him and prepares for it, the storms of life do not catch him by surprise. There is foolishness But foolishness results in exposure. The fool exposes himself to great risks, even when he knows better, displaying his folly for all to see.
