16 For they cannot rest until they do evil;
they are robbed of sleep till they make someone stumble.
17 They eat the bread of wickedness
and drink the wine of violence.
The path of the wicked promises freedom from moral constraints, the thrill of risk, and the opportunity to do whatever you want with whomever you want. But this is a great deception, as each step leads one deeper into bondage. The wicked become slaves of desire, unable to rest until they indulge it. And desire is a cruel master, constantly demanding more while giving less and less.
“They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.” Wickedness and violence become their daily sustenance, a habit which they cannot break. Nor do they want to as they crave nothing else, having spoiled their appetites with forbidden fruit. Where is temptation leading you? What habits to you need to break? Conquer them now, while you still can, or they will conquer you.
